1
We begin at Chowrasta Market. Nyonya Su Pei shows you the herbs, fish, and spices you will cook with — and why they matter.
2
In a clean, small kitchen you grind rempah, wrap, stew, and fry. Everything is from scratch. Questions are welcome.
3
You eat what you made. Printed English recipes come home with you, so the dishes can live in your kitchen too.
On the table
Menus change with the market and the season. These are family recipes Nyonya Su Pei returns to often.

Flat rice noodles fried over high heat with prawns, egg, bean sprouts and chives.

Chicken and potatoes simmered in a rich, spiced curry.

Tamarind broth, mackerel, torch ginger, and hay koh.

Soft glutinous rice skin with a sweet mung bean paste filling, moulded into a turtle shape and steamed on banana leaf.

Fresh spring roll wrappers filled with braised turnip, egg and fresh vegetables.

The spice paste that holds every dish together.
Private dining · Currently paused
Private dining is paused for the next few months. When it returns: you sit and eat; Nyonya Su Pei cooks — no market walk, no chopping, just a table set for your group.
1
When dining is available again: tell us the number of guests, any diets, and the kind of evening you want. We reply with availability.
2

At 53 Jalan Padang Victoria, George Town — courses come when they are ready, with room for conversation.
Who it suits
When available, private dining is for people who want Nyonya cooking without the hands-on class. It is currently paused. The menu changes with the market — we do not publish a fixed favourites list.
A birthday, a reunion, or a quiet Sunday. The menu can follow old festival dishes or stay simple.
A private introduction to Penang Nyonya cooking — without a crowded restaurant.
Courses come when they are ready. Stories of the recipes sit between plates.

The menu
Expect the four notes of Nyonya cooking — spicy, sour, sweet, and the deep savour of belacan. Vegetarian plates are cooked with the same care.
Seven courses. RM350 nett per person when dining is available. Private dining is currently paused.
